The next phase of construction is underway!

After a busy summer at East High School, the team is on to the next phase of construction. A big ‘thank you’ to all involved in ensuring spaces were ready for the start of school, especially staff for accommodating the expedited move-in and condensed preparation time in the days before the start of school.

Over the summer, renovation work was completed in the cafeteria, kitchen, music area, second-floor career center, and pool locker rooms. In addition, the new welcome center and re-paved parking lot are now complete.

Crews have shifted focus to the fall phases of construction, which includes work in the forum, first- floor classrooms, and library.

Updates on current work

• Completed demolition in the ground-floor and first-floor classrooms and started constructing new walls and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) rough-ins
• Will begin installing drywall and doors, and painting walls in the renovated classroom areas in the coming weeks

DID YOU KNOW? The new cooling tower at East High School generates 422,640 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of cooling. To put that into perspective, the average residential air conditioning unit generates 400 CFM. So, the amount of cooling provided by this new cooling tower is equivalent to placing over 1,050 residential units on top of the school – that’s a lot of cooling power!
